Preparing for your tattoo appointment

  • HYDRATE & MOISTURIZE

Make sure to drink lots of water the day before your appointment, and moisturize the area the day of. Failing to hydrate and moisturize can make the tattooing process more difficult.

  • Come as your best self

Try your best to avoid physical activity that could damage your skin (bruising, scabbing), and drinking alcohol 24 hours prior to your session.

On the day of your session, make sure to get a good nights rest, have a healthy meal, and drink lots of water.

  • Make yourself Comfortable

Make sure to wear loose/comfortable clothing. If you would like - you can bring water, a snack, headphones, or a book.

Aftercare for your tattoo

Week 1

Right after the session, you will have your tattoo covered with Saniderm. While your tattoo is covered, do not expose it to the sun, soak it (no baths or swimming) and do not do physical activity that will make your body sweat (no gym!). In the first week, minor swelling as well as itching are normal.

I recommend after 48 hours you remove the Saniderm. It’s best to remove while in the shower. Once removed, gently wash the tattoo with unscented soap, and tap the tattoo dry. Moisturize with a thin layer of Aquaphor or Tattoo balms (we have some available for purchase at our shop).

A scab will form on the tattoo after 3-4 days, and it may be itchy and dry. Resist the temptation to scratch it or pick the scabs. Let your skin heal naturally & KEEP IT MOISTURIZED with the ointment.

Week 2

That tattoo will continue to have a thin scab, and will begin to flake off. DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH at the scab. Continue to keep it clean and moisturized and let the scab fall off on their own.

Protect your tattoo from the sun and from prolonged water exposure.

Week 3 & 4

Continue applying moisturizer. Wash your hands before touching the tattoo. When the scabs fall off, and the skin feels smooth again to the touch, it is mostly healed. At this point, it is ok to shave over your tattoo or to go swimming. Keep moisturizing regularly to keep your tattoo looking its best.
